Mr. Eckel, co-founder of Cape Fear Commercial oversees the firms strategic planning to provide their clients with a sophisticated arsenal of services. He has extensive experience specializing in Corporate Advisory Services and  strategic real estate planning. Mr. Eckel’s understanding of complex real estate and development transactions allows him to provide an invaluable perspective to his clients.

Prior to co-founding Cape Fear Commercial, Mr. Eckel was Vice President of Ackerman & Co. based in Atlanta, Georgia where he specialized in representing Fortune 500 companies as well as emerging growth technology organizations in the acquisition and disposition of their real estate requirements on a national and local basis. He began his career in the brokerage department of Edens and Avant, a full service commercial real estate firm in Columbia, South Carolina.

A graduate of The University of South Carolina, Mr. Eckel adds significant value to clients by understanding all aspects of real estate negotiations that have balance sheet implications and impact the bottom line. Mr. Eckel has represented companies such as First Data Corp., CIGNA, and GE Capital.

A native of Wilmington , North Carolina , Mr. Eckel has successfully negotiated over 300 transactions. He prides himself on the highest level of integrity and his personal style of professional services he offers his clients. He also volunteers his time in various charity organizations throughout the Wilmington community and serves as the Co-Chairman of the Economic Development Board and as a Board of Director for Wilmington Downtown, Inc., was appointed by the New Hanover County Commissioners to the Zoning Board of Adjustment, was a Founding Member of Coastal Carolina Tomorrow, Inc. and currently serves as Vice President – Tresurer.  Mr. Eckel also serves on the land acquisition committee of the Coastal Land Trust.  He lives in Wilmington with his wife, Carroll, and children, Julia, Madeline, Web, and Lucy.

Mr. Wells, co-founder of Cape Fear Commercial, brings a result oriented mindset with a primary focus on service to the company. His broad-based knowledge of the real estate industry, combined with his goal-directed, analytical and organizational skills, add significant value to his clients.

Prior to co-founding Cape Fear Commercial, Mr. Wells developed a formidable brokerage practice as a Leasing Representative with Highwoods Properties, a publicly traded real estate investment trust that owns over 45 million square feet throughout the country. Mr. Wells was responsible for leasing and marketing a combined portfolio of 13.4 million square feet, consisting of office, warehouse, industrial, and flex space in Tampa, Florida and Greensboro, North Carolina.

In addition to leasing, marketing and managing Tenant and Landlord relations, Mr. Wells developed budgets, created spreadsheet analysis for property performance and coordinated tenant construction buildouts. His array of expertise brings the true meaning of “Full Service” Real Estate to Cape Fear Commercial.

A native of Wilmington, North Carolina, Mr. Wells received a Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Historic Wilmington Foundation, The Cape Fear Council Boy Scouts of America, and the Commercial, Industrial and Investment Division of the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors.  Mr. Wells resides in Wilmington with his wife, Elizabeth.

Mr. Miller serves as Director of Business Development for Cape Fear Commercial. A licensed real estate broker and general contractor , his primary role is to enhance company profitability through business development with new and existing clients. Additionally, he will be responsible for facilitating and the company's strategic planning process and implementation. Mr. Miller focuses on ensuring a clear, growth oriented strategic direction, goal achievement and attaining the highest levels of quality services and customer satisfaction.

Prior to joining Cape Fear Commercial, Mr. Miller was Chairman of Miller Building Corporation. Being in a family business, he "grew up" in the construction industry and developed a detailed knowledge of it through key positions within the organization in estimating, project management, purchasing and business development. During his tenure as Chairman, the Company was consistently ranked in the NC Top 100 privately held companies with over 250 million in annual revenues.

A native of Wilmington , Mr. Miller received a B.S. in Business Management from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington . He has been very active in civic and community organizations in Wilmington and throughout the State. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and is a past member of the Southeastern North Carolina Economic Development Commission, the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry and the Board of Directors of the Charlotte Partnership . Mr. Miller is also a Rotarian , a member of the Board of Directors of the Cape Fear Council of Boy Scouts, Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts Board of Trustees, the Leadership Team of the Partners for Economic Inclusion and is a Past President of the North Carolina Azalea Festival. He lives in Wrightsville Beach with his wife Maggie.

Mr. Greene serves as Senior Director of Brokerage for Cape Fear Commercial. Mr. Greene joined Cape Fear Commercial at its inception and his dedication and effort has helped transform Cape Fear Commercial into a market leader. Mr. Greene brings to his position an extensive knowledge of the Commercial Real Estate industry and the highest level of integrity.

Mr. Greene’s responsibilities include tenant representation, owner/developer representation, including lease and contract negotiations, site selection, asset acquisition and disposition across the office, retail, industrial and investment brokerage. Mr. Greene further participates in full service projects extending from corporate strategic planning, commercial real estate investment and development.

Mr. Greene currently serves as a North Carolina Association of Realtors board of governors for the Realtors Commercial Alliance (NCAR-RCA), 2008 President of the Realtors Commercial Alliance of Southeastern North Carolina (RCASENC). He is a candidate for a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation and is a member of both the Raleigh Chapter of National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and  International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

A graduate of University of Georgia, Athens; Mr. Greene is a licensed Real Estate Broker in The State of North Carolina and has held a license in The State of North Carolina as a Trainee Real Estate Appraiser.

Mr. Greene is an active member of St Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church and Cape Fear Rotary and a supportor of community organizations Habitat for Humanity. He resides in Wilmington with his wife Suzanne and their children Wilson and Eliza.

Spruill Thompson has a diverse background in the real estate industry with more than ten years of experience in business brokerage, business valuation, development, investment properties, property management, sales & leasing as well as particular focus on 1031 tax deferred exchanges.

Spruill served as President and Chief Executive Officer of 1st Atlantic Properties, Inc. for seven years.  In his role as President and CEO, Mr. Thompson oversaw the strategic planning and daily operations of the company as well as all forms of business development.  During his decade and a half career in the commercial real estate industry, Mr. Thompson has been involved in numerous transactions valued at over $150,000,000. Mr. Thompson has worked closely with the Wilmington International Airport to develop their Business Park. At Cape Fear Commercial, Mr.Thompson will develop new markets and geographically expand the company's full range of services.

Bryce Morrison, Jr. serves as Associate Director of Brokerage for Cape Fear Commercial.  He is a licensed real estate broker in the State of North Carolina and is committed to building a reputation of quality and integrity while seizing new opportunities to build customer loyalty.  Mr. Morrison encourages new growth through a diverse, proactive attitude that includes continued market research and development of innovative new marketing strategies and solutions to clients’ needs.


Prior to joining Cape Fear Commercial, Mr. Morrison spent over nine years in direct industrial equipment sales to end users in manufacturing, distribution, and warehousing.  He worked in a consultative role regarding customer solutions for material handling equipment and supplies to meet specific client needs.  He obtained exposure to new markets through extensive sales efforts and involvement with community and industry groups such as the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, Wilmington Industrial Development Group (Committee of 100), and the Cape Fear Chapter of the Institute for Supply Management.


Mr. Morrison is native to Wrightsville Beach and spent most of his adult life in Wilmington.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  He resides in Wilmington with his wife, Tina and daughter Caroline.

Mabel Kitchin serves as Director of Project Development for Cape Fear Commercial.  A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Business Management, Mrs. Kitchin is also a licensed real estate broker in the State of North Carolina.  A native of Wilmington, Mrs. Kitchin understands the importance of careful planning and design of new projects within the community. She is committed to overseeing the entire development process, ensuring that all procedures are followed properly.  Mrs. Kitchin works directly with state and local governments, as well as civil engineers, to manage the development from start to finish.  Her dedication to meeting deadlines, ensuring timely release of permits, and following the progress of civil engineer planning has been a tremendous asset to Cape Fear Commercial’s development division.  


Prior to joining Cape Fear Commercial, Mabel served as Marketing Manager and then National Sales Administrator for Hextek Technologies, a fishing rod design company created in 1994.  Her management roles have allowed her to obtain the organizational and time-management skills imperative to successful project development.  Mabel and her husband Hal live in Wilmington.

Caroline S. Williams serves as Director of Marketing for Cape Fear Commercial. Mrs. Williams evaluates current market data to provide our clients with reliable material. She also generates marketing materials for our multi-disciplinary teams, enhancing new business development. Mrs. Williams is dedicated to providing unsurpassed service to every client. She assists the brokerage and development teams on projects ranging from sales and leasing of office, retail, industrial and land to investment sales and 1031 exchanges.


Mrs. Williams, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication, is a licensed real estate broker in the State of North Carolina. Prior to working with Cape Fear Commercial, Mrs. Williams served as Marketing Specialist at Discovery Networks, a leading global media company in Charlotte, N.C. Her coordination strengths and energy have transferred well to the demands and challenges of commercial real estate.  Her ability to tailor strong marketing and sales experience to Wilmington’s real estate environment will further the company’s goals and our clients’ needs.   At the end of the day, her success with project-based schedules and sincere enjoyment of meeting new people have created a wonderful fit for Cape Fear Commercial and our clients.


Mrs. Williams, a native of Charlotte, lives in Wilmington with her husband, Tram. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church and is active in the Wilmington community.

 
Chris Chaffin

Mr. Chaffin serves as Director of Operations for Cape Fear Commercial. His primary role is to oversee the daily operations of the Property Management division. Responsible for approximately 800,000 square feet of commercial property, Mr. Chaffin meticulously balances client goals with tenant expectations. With over 10 years of property management experience with a focus on customer service, systems analysis and facility/property maintenance, his experience and expertise allows him to manage multiple types of commercial properties, including retail, office and industrial providing unsurpassed quality in management services to owners.

While his primary function is implementing the tenant retention and problem prevention programs, he is also responsible for auditing the lease administration process, directs all maintenance and operations, conducts security analysis, capital improvement planning, tax appeals, risk management, value engineering, and financial & accounting modeling.

While Mr. Chaffin resides in Wilmington, he is a “standby” Leader for his son’s Boy Scout Troop in Fairfax County Virginia where he participates in numerous outings and adventures.

 
Lindsey E. Hess

Lindsey Hess serves as Financial Analyst and Property Manager for Cape Fear Commercial. Her responsibilities include financial reporting to owners, forming tenant relationships, auditing leases, and evaluating contracts to ensure that the building and the tenants are provided with quality and professional service while negotiating the best price. Lindsey is also responsible for the preparation and analysis of pro formas for new development projects.

Ms. Hess graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, concentrating in Finance and Accounting. At UNCW, she competed on the women’s tennis team and was an ITA Academic All-American for four years, earning the Chancellor’s Cup as a senior for academic and athletic excellence. Prior to returning to Wilmington and joining Cape Fear Commercial, she provided Real Estate asset management services for equity funds at TriMont Real Estate Advisors in Atlanta. Ms. Hess began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York City providing external audit services to clients. She currently resides in Wilmington.
